India’s vote at the UN marks a clear shift from its previous stance on Gaza. For several years, India has avoided supporting resolutions calling for a ceasefire. India has abstained from supporting resolutions demanding a ceasefire in Gaza on four occasions in the last three years. The seven-page declaration followed an international conference held at the UN headquarters in July. The conference was co-hosted by Saudi Arabia and France, with the aim of restarting discussions to resolve the decades-old conflict.
