Former President Donald Trump has delivered an unyielding ultimatum to Hamas, stating that the US “will have no choice but to go in and kill them” should the organization continue to target civilians. The former president’s forceful declaration was published on his Truth Social platform and rapidly gained traction online. “If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them,” Trump wrote, expressing frustration with the ongoing violence. Earlier remarks from the Oval Office painted a somber picture of the situation in Gaza, with Trump referencing the discovery of numerous bodies amidst the rubble and slow progress in peace negotiations. He described the recovery efforts as a “gruesome process,” detailing the challenges of unearthing and identifying victims, some of whom had been deceased for extended periods and were located in collapsed structures or subterranean tunnels. Turning his attention to disarmament, Trump stressed that Hamas must fulfill its commitment to surrender its weapons as stipulated in the US-negotiated peace accord. “We want the weapons to be given. They have agreed to do it. Now they have to do it. If they don’t do it, we will do it,” he told reporters. Trump left no room for ambiguity regarding the consequence of non-compliance: “They are going to disarm, because they said they were going to disarm. And if they don’t disarm, we will disarm them.” He added pointedly, “They know I am not playing games.” The comments were made during a meeting with Argentina’s President Javier Milei, following the announcement of a substantial economic aid package from Washington to Argentina. Trump’s strong rhetoric signals a potential escalation in the US approach to the Gaza conflict, indicating that military intervention could become the primary recourse if Hamas fails to disarm.
