Indian authorities have confirmed that the death sentence against Nimisha Priya, an Indian nurse, has been revoked. This decision was made following a high-level meeting in Sanaa, Yemen. Priya was convicted of killing a Yemeni national in 2018. Her execution, initially set for July 16, was postponed due to the efforts of the Indian government. The Ministry of External Affairs has been providing support, including legal aid, to Priya’s family, and exploring avenues for clemency or pardon under Sharia law.
