The conflict between Israel and the Houthis has persisted for approximately two years, with intermittent attacks and counterattacks. Following the relative lull in attacks by Hezbollah and Hamas due to Israeli measures, the Houthis have sustained their assaults on Israel. On Sunday, Israeli forces launched a significant strike against Sana’a, Yemen, targeting the Haziz power station south of the city. This power plant serves as a crucial hub for electricity distribution within the capital. According to a source from the Yemeni Civil Defense Department, the attack damaged the station’s generators, leading to a complete shutdown and a consequent disruption of the region’s power supply. Later, Israeli media attributed the operation to the Israeli Navy. Hazem al-Asad, a member of the Houthi political bureau, condemned the attacks, asserting that Israel intentionally targets critical infrastructure, including essential service facilities. The Houthis view these attacks as an intentional targeting of Yemeni civilians. The strikes coincide with the Houthis’ ongoing military campaign in support of Gaza. This campaign involves attacks on Israeli-affiliated vessels in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea. The Yemeni armed forces have reiterated their commitment to continue these operations until the cessation of Israeli aggression and the lifting of the siege of Gaza. In response to Houthi actions, Israel, the United States, and the United Kingdom have launched strikes against Houthi positions and civilian infrastructure within Yemen, resulting in civilian casualties.
