Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s choice of outfit during his recent visit to the Oval Office on Monday became a focal point. In a stark contrast to his typical military-style attire, he wore a black jacket and a dark collared shirt. This alteration appears to be a response to the criticism he faced during a previous Washington visit in February when his choice of clothing was ridiculed. Since the onset of the Russian invasion in 2022, Zelenskyy has predominantly worn military-style clothing as a symbol of unity with the Ukrainian military. On this occasion, though still formal, his look exhibited an enhanced sense of style, without a tie. During the meeting, a reporter praised his suit, referencing prior disapproval of his previous outfit. Zelenskyy acknowledged the reporter’s remarks. The reporter expressed an apology for the previous criticism and complimented Zelenskyy. Zelenskyy was asked about the possibility of holding elections in Ukraine after a peace agreement, and he confirmed his openness to the idea, contingent on the establishment of secure conditions for the elections.
